Review from The Citizen Newspaper

AFRICAN TREEHOUSE – STORIES FROM THE ALPHABET TREE (AFRICAN TREEHOUSE) – There is plenty of competition in the kids’ music market at present. South Africa alone offers handfuls of options for parents hoping to distract and entertain their little ones.

This album features the sweet catchy music replicated (more or less) on many other compilations, but in its favour, it intersperses those with fables including, as characters, the animals of the African bush.

Again, this is hardly a new idea, but the recordings are lovingly done, with great attention to detail in terms of sound effects and opportunities for young listeners to interact – shout out something, or say a rhyme (it’s a bit like a pantomime) – that the final product is appealing, and just the sort of thing you’ll put on for your little ones. – BD
